Governor-General, His Excellency the Most Hon. Dr. Patrick Allen, will be the main speaker at the Police Civilian Oversight Authority’s (PCOA) public forum, which will be held on Wednesday (March 4) at St. Gabriel’s Anglican Church Hall in May Pen, Clarendon.

Commissioner of Police, Rear Admiral Hardley Lewin, will also address the forum, which will get underway at 3:00 p.m.

According to Karen Cadien of the PCOA’s Communication Unit, several concerns and issues were raised by persons, who attended a forum in the parish late last year, so a decision was taken to hold a follow-up session to allow discourse, aimed at addressing these issues.

The PCOA, as part of its mandate, seeks to encourage better police-community relations, and to hold members of the security forces to a greater level of accountability.

It also attempts, through various public consultations, to inform Jamaicans about its mandate and plans regarding the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) and its auxiliaries, the Island Constabulary Force and Rural Police.

Clarendon continues to be one of the top five parishes accounting for the most murders.
