Governor-General, His Excellency the Most Hon. Professor Sir Kenneth Hall, has expressed gratitude to the Government and the Jamaican people, for the support, which he and Lady Hall received, during his tenure as Head of State.
Performing his final role as patron of the National Leadership Prayer Breakfast (NLPB), at the 29th staging of the event held yesterday (Jan. 15), at the Jamaica Pegasus hotel in Kingston, Sir Kenneth Hall noted the kind comments made and generosity of spirit displayed, during his “short service. rendered to the country.”
“I use this opportunity to thank you for the support, which we have received, and… those who have made public comments… I acknowledge these,” he stated.
He especially thanked Prime Minister, Bruce Golding, for his generosity. “I want to thank you…for the wonderful working relationship which we have had, before you were Prime Minister, and since you are Prime Minister,” the Governor-General added.
He also thanked the members of the Cabinet, as well as Opposition Leader, Portia Simpson Miller, whom he said, “treated me with kindness and generosity.”
“I wish to thank all of you, and the nation, for allowing us this great privilege of serving in this high post,” he said.
Sir Kenneth retires from office on February 26, after serving as Governor- General for three years. Prior to becoming Head of State, he was Principal of the Mona Campus of the University of the West Indies (UWI).
Sir Kenneth Hall holds the distinction of serving under three different Prime Ministers – P.J. Patterson, Portia Simpson Miller, and Bruce Golding.
