Sir Patrick Allen said the Bold Ones of Manufacturing programme resonates with his I Believe Initiative (IBI) and, since its unfurling in 2010, has “developed confidence in our people so they can be the best that they can be and give back to Jamaica in order to make Vision 2030 a reality.”

Speaking directly to the programme participants, he lauded their work as a collective expression of faith, perseverance, passion and belief in Jamaica.  “Many people believe in Jamaica and it shows in different ways.  You were bold enough to push forward, remembering the mantra that if at first you don’t succeed, try, try and try again.”

In his remarks, Chairman of Continental Baking Company Gary ‘Butch’ Hendrickson pointed out that local resources were heavily used in most of the goods manufactured by the participants and this makes their products truly Jamaican.  “It shows the resourcefulness and vision of regular Jamaicans who are determined to reject the naysayers,” he added.

Mr. Hendrickson said that every effort should be made to get the word out that “there is nothing wrong with Jamaica that cannot be fixed by what is right with Jamaica,” which is the mantra of the I Believe Initiative.  As a show of support for the IBI the baking company has branded an eighth truck with the IBI’s logo and mantra.
