I express my profound sadness on learning of the sudden passing of Mr. Martin Henry, noted columnist and public affairs analyst.
Mr. Henry enjoyed an enviable reputation as a balanced, fair and insightful commentator on a range of issues of local, regional and international importance. He made an outstanding contribution as a lecturer and administrator in the tertiary education sector, where he was a highly respected model for staff and students alike.
As a churchman, he brought to bear in his work and witness his strong faith and his unshakeable integrity. Jamaica has lost a distinguished son whose legacy will long remain to inspire and encourage a generation and more of our citizens.
Lady Allen and I extend heartfelt sympathy to his wife, Jacqueline, his children, and his extended family. We join with countless friends and beneficiaries of his stewardship in praying for their strength at this time and trust that the very happy memories of their time with him will be a source of enduring comfort.
