Prince Selassie Makes Courtesy Call On Deputy Governor-General

Deputy Governor-General the Hon. Mrs. Marcia Bennet CD, JP received His Imperial Highness Prince Ermias-Sahle-Selassie for a courtesy call, at King’s House, this morning (April 22, 2016).

Prince Sahle-Selassie whose visit is in commemoration of the 50th anniversary of that of his grandfather, Ethiopia’s former Emperor, His Imperial Majesty Haile Selassie, was very cordial.


During the Courtesy Call which included Dr. Michael Barnette, Head of Rastafari Studies Unit at the University of the West Indies and chief organizer of the visit, the prince shared some of the experiences the former Emperor had shared with him as a young boy, of his own visit with former Governor General, Sir Clifford Campbell.
 
This courtesy call at King’s House is being viewed as one of great significance to the Jamaican cultural community.
 
Ethiopia and Jamaica has established diplomatic relations since March 22, 1966.
