On Thursday, June 27, His Excellency the Governor-General welcomed students and faculty from Southern Oregon University to King’s House as part of their Democracy Project visit to Jamaica.
During the courtesy call, the group engaged in a meaningful exchange on the role of higher education in shaping democratic societies. His Excellency shared insights on Jamaica’s democratic journey since independence and the importance of civic education in strengthening national development.
The visit formed part of a broader initiative to deepen cross-cultural understanding and highlight the role of academic institutions, locally and internationally, in preparing citizens to lead, serve, and uphold democratic values.
