MESSAGE FROM H E THE MOST HON. LADY ALLEN FOR THE LAUNCH OF THE ST. MARY RUN/WALK 2014

I wish to most sincerely thank the executive of the St Mary Run/ Walk Committee for their invitation for me to be patron of the inaugural staging of the run/walk/2k/14 under the theme “Highway For Health And Education“.

Health and education are two of the most critical elements in the total development of our nation and therefore I warmly commend any group or individual who commits their support to these sectors.

As one who hailed from this parish I am aware of the challenges that are encountered in both sectors.  I therefore am very pleased to support this worthwhile project which represents a combination of individual and social responsibility.  Those of us who will participate are not only ensuring an investment in our physical development, but also in the sustainable advancement of health and education.

We should no longer be discouraged by limitations of time and resources when we envisage the future of our parish. When each person contributes what we can of time, talent and resources, even the “Widow’s mite”, we can accomplish much in securing the wellbeing and prosperity of our parish and indeed, of Jamaica.

In fact the very nature of this initiative as a fun run suggests the level of inclusiveness that can be achieved.

I assure the committee of my commitment to participate in this project and encourage everyone to be part of this exemplary demonstration of humanitarianism.

Parishioners of St. Mary and friends all across Jamaica, please join us on April 25 for St. Mary’s pioneer staging of   “Highway For Health And Education”.
