The University of Technology (UTECH) and the Jamaican Institute of Management (JIM) on Monday (Feb. 16) launched the UTECH\/JIM School of Advanced Management at the offices of JIM in Kingston. Professor Errol Morrison, President of UTECH and Dr Alfred Sangster, Executive Chairman of JIM, signed the agreement formalizing the union between both institutions.<\/p>\n

Keynote speaker, Governor-General, Professor Sir Kenneth Hall described the agreement as a strategic move in light of the current economic environment. “This collaborative move is one that is strategic, especially during these times. I have always thought that persons should become more innovative in times of difficulty, in an effort to prepare themselves for when the tide turns,” the Governor-General said.<\/p>\n

The Governor-General commended both institutions for their dedication and commitment to tertiary education in Jamaica and applauded their efforts at developing a Jamaican workforce that is knowledgeable in the area of management and capable of making a tangible contribution to the economy.<\/p>\n

The School of Advanced Management is expected to add diversity to the management and administrative courses already offered at both institutions. It will also provide greater opportunity for prospective students to access tertiary education as well as for businesses to retrain and retool their staff complement.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
