Governor-General, His Excellency the Most Hon. Sir Patrick Allen has announced the retirement of the Hon. R. James deRoux as Custos Rotulorum for the parish of Clarendon, effective July 31, 2011.

Custos deRoux was appointed to the position on May 5, 1981 and has the distinction of being the longest serving Custos.  His thirty-year tenure spans that of four Governors-General, during which he acted as Deputy Governor-General on three occasions.

Governor-General Sir Patrick Allen has expressed appreciation for his sterling contribution and the indelible mark he has left on the role of Custos. Sir Patrick Allen has also applauded Custos deRoux for his hard work, integrity and commitment to service, both as a Custos and on the occasions that he has served as Deputy Governor-General.

On the recommendation of Prime Minister the Hon. Bruce Golding, Sir Patrick Allen has appointed Mr. William Shagoury, OD, JP, as Custos Rotulorum for the parish of Clarendon, with effect from August 1, 2011.
