In a ceremony held on June 22nd at King’s House, His Excellency The Most Honourable Sir Patrick Allen swore in Mr. Leslie Campbell, Member of Parliament for St. Catherine North Eastern as Minister without Portfolio.
Mr. Campbell’s appointment illustrates his continued willingness and commitment to contribute to the realization of the policy and programme objectives of the Government. His appointment follows that of former Minister without Portfolio The Honorable Lester Michael Henry, who succeeded the late Minister of Labour and Social Security, Mrs. Shahine Robinson.
His Excellency noted that though Mr. Campbell is assuming office in a time of varying challenges, his dedication to serving Jamaica and her people was evident and commendable.
Responding to his new appointment, Mr. Campbell expressed gratitude to the members of his constituency. Additionally, he thanked the Most Honourable Prime Minister for his show of confidence and the opportunity to serve Jamaica in this new capacity.
As a Minister of Government Mr. Campbell takes the Oath of Allegiance, to uphold and defend the Constitution and Laws of Jamaica, and discharge his responsibilities conscientiously and impartially, to freely give of his counsel to the Governor-General, to ensure good management of the public affairs of the country while maintaining the necessary confidentiality.
