His Excellency, congratulated Ambassador Vescovi on his new assignment as non-resident Ambassador, noting that this is his first Ambassadorial appointment. The ambassador-designate previously served as Deputy Head of Mission of the Swiss Embassy in Peru (2020-2023) and in Australia (2018-2020).
Switzerland established diplomatic relations with Jamaica in December 1962. Jamaica has maintained an active trading relationship with Switzerland, which was dominated by Swiss imports except for 2021, when there was a trade surplus due to an increase in exports of aluminium oxide. Swiss investors and companies are present in Jamaica through the Swiss Stores and Nestlé. Potential investment opportunities for Swiss businesses may reside in the banking and finance, logistics, and renewable energy sectors, given Switzerland’s advancement in these areas.
