Governor General Sir Patrick Allen has expressed regret at the recent passing of  St Elizabeth Custos  Albert Farquharson. His Excellency remembers him as a dedicated representative, who served  as Custos  for 15 years.  The Governor-General also recalled Custos Farquharson’s  many years in the public service  where he served  as  Principal of the Lacovia High School.

Sir Patrick noted  that the Custos was an excellent leader who carried out his duties with commitment and  professionalism.

‘It is sad to have lost another one of our great Jamaicans. Custos Farquharson  served in his office for 15 years with dedication and the highest level of professionalism,’ the Governor General  said.

Custos Farquharson, who was heavily involved in Early Childhood Education as  a teacher, and  principal, was also a  philanthropist,   and a storyteller. Several of his plays were performed  at the annual  fundraising events  sponsored by  the St Elizabeth Lay Magistrates Association.

Custos Farquharson, 84, died last Friday.  He   is survived by two sons.
