King’s House, Jamaica- Governor-General Sir Patrick Allen today appointed nine Judges for the Michaelmas term at King’s House. These Judges will serve the Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court.
The judges sworn in today are:
Acting Judges of Appeal:

• The Honourable Mrs. Justice Georgiana Fraser
Acting Puisne Judges:
• Master Stephany Orr
• Master Pamela Mason
• Her Honour Miss Opal Smith
• Her Honour Mrs. Tracey-Ann Johnson
• Mrs. Sharon Millwood Moore
Acting Masters-in-Chambers:
• Her Honour Mrs. Luciana Jackson
• Her Honour Miss Christine McNeil
Sir Patrick congratulated the Judges and wished them a successful term in their respective
positions. “We know you have excelled in the past, and we are confident that you will do equally well this term,” he said.
Chief Justice Bryan Sykes praised the Judges for clearing the Parish Court backlog ahead of
the two-year target. He also shared his vision of establishing the Jamaican judicial system as the
best in both the Caribbean and globally.
President of the Court of Appeal, the Honourable Mr. Justice Brooks, noted that the Supreme
Court will resume in-person hearings, following a shift to online proceedings due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
In his response on behalf of the newly-sworn Judges, Justice Kissock Laing expressed his
gratitude: “It is an immense honour and a privilege for us to have the opportunity to serve the country in our respective positions,” he said, adding that “We undertake to discharge our duties fairly and diligently, in accordance with the oaths we have taken, aiming towards an ecosystem ofbexcellence within the Judicial system.”
The Michaelmas term is significant for the Judiciary, marking the start of a new legal term
after the summer recess.
