Her Excellency the Most Honourable Lady Allen has called on Jamaicans to put on their running gears and join the LIME Foundation in the 2014 RUN FOR THE CHILDREN” charity event in aid of the Bustamante Hospital for Children.

Lady Allen, who was speaking at the official lunch of the charity event held in the Conference Room of the Bustamante Hospital for Children on November 12, lauded the LIME foundation and other corporate entities for their decision to help raise funds to purchase a well-needed fluoroscopy equipment for the Hospital.

As Patron of the Bustamante Hospital for Children I have seen the pain, suffering and sometimes fear on the faces of these children and their parents. I therefore welcome and embrace the LIME Foundation as a partner with the BHC and I am very pleased to endorse the LIME 6K Run for Children,” Lady Allen said.

Chairman of the LIME Foundation Mr. Errol Miller said that the (Foundation) was prompted to step out of their usual activities of assisting with communication support and have been including projects relating to healthcare and the environment.

After meeting with the CEO of the Hospital, Mr. Anthony Wood, who said that they needed a fluoroscopy unit that aids in detecting early kidney disease as there are no functioning ones in the health system, we decided that this will be our project , “ revealed Mr. Miller.

Mr. Miller praised Lady Allen for her immediate response and decision to become Patron of the run, one in which they hope to make an annual event. The approximately 4 mile run will be hosted in the ‘sunshine’ city, Portmore St. Catherine on January 5. It will also feature a kiddies 2k race for children.

Other proud supporters of the event are: Gatorade, Irie FM Group, ZIP FM, Cable and Wireless Co-operative Credit Union, National Commercial Bank, Guardian Group and Jamaica Public Service.
