Her Excellency, the Most Hon. Lady Rheima Hall, has commended students of Windward Road Primary and Junior High for their vision and accomplishment in the visual arts.
She noted that art and craft is a viable career area and persuaded the students to continue to excel in this field. “I implore you (students) to work hard on your art and craft as it is a good area to be in,” she stated.
Her Excellency, along with members of staff of Air Jamaica, today (May 7) visited the Kingston-based school to mark Teachers’ Day.
Staff of the national airline, which has adopted the institution, acted as substitute teachers and participated in a number of activities in observance of the special day.
During a special devotion exercise, members of staff of the school paid tribute to retired teacher, Sheila Wilson, for her years of dedication, commitment and contribution to the classroom.
Teachers’ Day is one of the many activities held by the Jamaica Teachers’ Association to celebrate Education Week 2008. The week observes the immense contribution that teachers have made and continue to give to the education system and nation building by extension.
On Teachers’ Day, community members and student takes time out to honour their local educators, who continue to make a difference in the lives of children island-wide.
