His Excellency the Most Hon. Sir Patrick Allen welcomed 54 new ambassadors to the network of over three hundred (300) ‘I Believe’ Initiative Ambassadors. The newly inducted ambassadors represent each county- Cornwall, Middlesex and Surrey, Launched by His Excellency in 2011, the ‘I Believe’ Initiative delivers and promotes community-led interventions that support education, empower young people and build resilient families. ‘I Believe’ Initiative Ambassadors are charged to uphold the pillars of The Governor-General’s Programme for Excellence- Youth, Education and Family.
In his address to the newly inducted, The Governor-General said, “The IBI induction is not an award; it is an invitation into a community dedicated to leveraging Jamaica’s strengths to address its challenges. Each individual joining this movement is a valued friend and ally in our collective effort to restore values and ensure peace in Jamaica..” of which the audience resonated.
During the ceremony, each ambassador read a declaration and was given a unique lapel pin by His Excellency. Over the course of a year, the newly inducted Ambassadors will benefit from tailored mentorship in leadership and project design; while helping to deliver the annual programmes of the ‘I Believe’ Initiative.
