Governor-General His Excellency the Most Hon. Sir Patrick Allen leaves the island this afternoon, Wednesday May 15 for London, England where he is scheduled to participate in activities hosted by the Jamaica National Building Society to mark the 25th Anniversary of the JNBS Representative Office in the United Kingdom. Her Excellency the Most Honourable Lady Allen will accompany the Governor-General.
While in London the Governor-General will address the JNBS 25th anniversary church service and luncheon at the Methodist Church Hall in Westminster, as well as a Diaspora community reception in Birmingham. He will also participate in a ceremony for the University of Birmingham and the former Mayor of the City of Birmingham, for the excellent support which they gave to the Jamaican Olympic Team last year. Sir Patrick will present the Appreciation Plaques and Citations on behalf of the Most Honourable Prime Minister and the people of Jamaica. He is also scheduled to address guests of the President of the Caribbean Council at a reception at the House of Lords at Westminster.
Sir Patrick will return to the island on Wednesday May 22. During his absence the Honourable Steadman Fuller, Custos Rotulorum for the parish of Kingston, will serve as Deputy Governor-General.
