At the 16th staging of Jamaica’s Annual Diplomatic Week, Governor-General His Excellency the Most Honourable Sir Patrick Allen accepted Letters of Credence presented to him by resident and non-resident Ambassadors and High Commissioners in two presentation ceremonies held at King’s House on Monday February 3, 2014.
The annual affair, coordinated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, is being celebrated under the theme “Partnership for Growth”. Listed among the activities to unfold during the week will be the Diplomatic Dinner hosted by The Governor-General and Her Excellency The Most Honourable Lady Allen. This is scheduled for Thursday, February 6, at King’s House.
In his remarks at the both presentation ceremonies, Sir Patrick Allen told the diplomats that Jamaica was looking forward to deepening relations with their respective countries during their tenure, and hoped that they would be able to celebrate progress in that regard.
“Each of you brings to this important assignment years of experience which will serve you well, not only in promoting your countries’ interests, but also in identifying potential areas for policy, technical or commercial cooperation with Jamaica”, said the Governor-General.
Sir Patrick Allen said that the diplomats came at an exciting time as the Government is now engaging Jamaicans and seeking external participation in the Global Logistics Hub. He explained that the Hub was a major development strategy which would put the country on the path of achieving Vision 2030.
