Governor-General Sir Patrick Allen on Friday (July 25) visited the Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) Training Camp at Moneague in St. Ann and observed members of the 3rd Battalion Jamaica Regiment in the training phase of their Annual Camp. He was taken on a tour by Major General Antony Anderson, Chief of Defence Staff and senior officers of the JDF. Patrol Harbour, Section Battle Drill and a mock Observation Post were among the field exercises observed by Sir Patrick Allen.
Following the visit, the Governor-General said he was grateful for the opportunity to observe the JDF soldiers in training, adding that he now has a better understanding and appreciation for how they operate when faced by criminal elements. He said the training will make the officers more efficient and that this would augur well for Jamaica.
Sir Patrick Allen also had high praises for the soldiers and commended the Chief of Defence Staff for the quality leadership given to the JDF. “I commend you for the seriousness with which you take on your responsibilities and for your positive approach to your duties. Thank you for the work that you do on behalf of Jamaica,” the Governor-General said.
The Annual Training Camp which began on July 19 will end on August 3.
