Governor-General Sir Patrick Allen received Letters of Credence from the High Commissioner-Designate of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh to Jamaica, Mrs Rabab Fatima, in a ceremony at King’s House on Monday 13thDecember 2021.
In the ensuing exchange, The Governor-General extended a warm welcome to High Commissioner Fatima, who also serves as her country’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations at New York.
Sir Patrick wished the High Commissioner a successful tenure and said he hoped there would be opportunities for her to visit Jamaica on other occasions such as the Annual Diplomatic Week.
In discussing the merits of the various types of vaccines, Her Excellency updated The Governor-General on the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic in her country. Sir Patrick mentioned the restrictions and challenges caused by the pandemic and said he hoped it will over soon.
The new High Commissioner was accompanied by Mr Mohammed Nore Alam, Minister and Mr Md Noorelati Mina, First Secretary (Press).
Jamaica and Bangladesh established Diplomatic Relations on 5th November 1973.
