Governor-General Sir Patrick Allen visited the National Gallery of Jamaica where he viewed the Jamaica Biennial 2014 Exhibition on Wednesday March 11. He was met on arrival by Dr. Veerle Poupeye, Executive Director of the Gallery and O’Neil Lawrence, Senior Curator who provided a guided tour.
The exhibition features the work of ninety-nine artists from Jamaica and the Jamaican Diaspora as well as other countries in the English-speaking and francophone Caribbean. It also includes eleven video pieces.
Sir Patrick Allen had high praises for the quality of the pieces on display and commended the National Gallery for its ongoing commitment to showcasing local talent and for exposing the people of Jamaica to the arts.
