Sir Patrick Allen observes as the Hon. Mr. Justice Dennis Morrison, QC takes the Oath as Acting President of the Court of Appeal.

Governor-General Sir Patrick Allen has appointed the Hon. Mr. Justice Dennis Morrison, QC, as Acting President of the Court of Appeal.  His appointment comes as the Hon. Seymour Panton, who is the President of the Court of Appeal, proceeds on pre-retirement leave, after serving the legal profession for some thirty years.

 

His Excellency looks on as Mr. Justice Dennis Morrison, QC subscribes to the Oath of Allegiance and the Judicial Oath as he was sworn in as Acting President of the Court of Appeal.

In addressing the swearing-in ceremony which took place at King’s House on Monday (Aug. 24), Sir Patrick Allen expressed confidence that Mr. Justice Dennis Morrison will continue to uphold the principles and standards of the justice system.

“His appointment is an expression of the confidence and trust reposed in his ability to give outstanding leadership to the Court of Appeal at this time,” the Governor-General said. “I have no doubt that his family members and colleagues will continue to support him as he upholds the principles and high standard on which our justice system is predicated,” he concluded.

 

 

The Hon. Mr. Justice Dennis Morrison has enjoyed a stellar legal career spanning several countries in the Caribbean. He was appointed Judge of the Court of Appeal in Jamaica on May 1, 2008 and has also served as a Judge of Appeal in Belize and the Cayman Islands.
