Governor-General, His Excellency the Most Hon. Sir Patrick Allen, acting on the recommendation of Prime Minister, the Hon. Bruce Golding, will on Thursday September 2, install Mrs. Marigold Harding as Custos Rotulorum for the parish of St. Andrew.

The investiture ceremony will be held at Kings House, starting at 2:00 p.m. with guests asked to be seated by 1:20 p.m.

Mrs. Harding was appointed Custos in August, following the retirement of Bishop the Hon. Dr. Carmen Stewart, OJ, OD, who served as Custos of the parish from her appointment in October 1992 until her retirement on August 8 this year.

Custos Harding is the wife of Senator, Dr. the Hon. Oswald Harding, President of the Senate.

As Custos, Mrs. Harding will be the representative of the Governor-General in St. Andrew. As part of her responsibilities, she will serve as Chief Magistrate for the parish, and ensure that there are sufficient Justices of the Peace to serve the Petty Sessions Court and communities throughout St. Andrew.

Meanwhile, in preparation for the installation of the new St. Andrew Custos, all Justices of the Peace for the parish of St. Andrew are being asked to sign the Magistrates Roll which will be available at the Medallion Hall Hotel, 53 Hope Road Kingston 6, from Monday August 23 to Wednesday September 1, 2010, between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 2 p.m.
