Governor-General Sir Patrick Allen presided over the Ceremony of Investiture and Presentation of National Honours and Awards at King’s House today, where a number of outstanding Jamaicans were conferred with National Honours.

The recipients were honoured for serving and impacting the nation positively and received formal recognition by way of their acceptance of National Awards:  the Order of Jamaica and the Order of Distinction.

There were approximately two hundred and thirty three recipients, eight of whom received the Order of Jamaica, thirty six were conferred with the Order of Distinction in the Commander Class, fifty persons received the Order of Distinction in the Officer Class. There were also recipients of the Badge of Honour for Meritorious Service, Badge of Honour for Long and Faithful Service and one brave young lady, Miss Toni-Ann Miller, received the Badge of Honour for Gallantry.

Their Excellencies the Most Hon. Sir Patrick and the Most Hon. Lady Allen later hosted a reception in honour of some of the awardees and other special invited guests.
