Governor-General Sir Patrick Allen has applauded the proprietors of National Baking Company for their involvement in the Jamaican economy and believes that the company should be a model for the manufacturing industry. He was speaking to company CEO Gary “Butch” Hendrickson and staff following a tour of the factory located on Half-Way Tree Road.
The Governor-General had special commendations for the “Bold Ones” campaign which is an initiative of National Baking Company to mentor and promote emerging small and medium sized businesses. “A nation is grown based on the small and medium sized enterprises and so your input in terms of nurturing the “Bold Ones” is phenomenal,” Sir Patrick Allen said.
National Baking Company is the leading bakery in Jamaica, producing millions of loaves of hardo and sliced bread, as well as a full line of biscuits, buns and snack annually. The “Bold Ones” initiative which it introduced in 2010 has so far invested over $90 Million in approximately thirty small businesses.
