Nominations for the esteemed Governor-General’s Achievement Awards (GGAA), an arm of the Governor-General’s Programme for Excellence (GGPE), is now open to the public. The closing date is midnight Friday March 17, 2017. These awards are being presented under the theme “Inspiring and Energizing Communities to Serve ”.

Forty-two (42) persons across three (3) Age Group categories, each representing a parish, will be selected and honoured for leadership excellence. The Age Group categories are: 18-24 years, 25-35 years and over 35 years.

The selection criteria focus on ‘Family’, ‘Youth’, ‘Education’ and the nominees’ impact in their ‘Community’. It is also keen on the individual’s ‘Creativity’, ‘Originality’, ‘Initiative’, and ‘Sustained Accomplishment’. According to the programme’s National Coordinator, Major (Retired) Effiom B. Whyte, this year’s theme is an effort to reinforce the importance of voluntary service to each and everyone within the community.

Nominees for the Governor-General’s Achievement Awards must be Jamaican Citizens. Information regarding eligibility for each award category along with the respective Personal Information Form is available here and the Office of the Custos Rotulorum for the respective Parish.

Persons who have been recipients of National Awards are not eligible.
